At the Expo, students will have the opportunity to present their projects with their team and receive verbal feedback from reviewers. This is good practice for FIRST LEGO League Challenge (grades 4-8), when they will be judged as they compete. At the Expo, students will see FIRST LEGO League Challenge LEGO robots, get to see other Explore teams' models, see the high school FIRST Robotics Competition team's robot, and experience a fun science show. The Expo ends with a closing ceremony, when all students will be celebrated equally for participating in the learning, building and teamwork. The focus of FIRST LEGO League Explore is on teamwork, sharing their projects and receiving feedback rather than “winning” or being judged. That comes as they are older. We hope to see you all there.
Schedule
12:00 p.m. Reviewers training and lunch (teachers lounge, room F113, highlighted in yellow on map below)
12:45 p.m. Coaches set-up their presentation boards and models (cafeteria)
1:00 p.m. Opening Ceremony (auditorium) - Students and families, please arrive a little early and be in your seats on time. It may take extra time to find a seat, because team members and coaches will be assigned seats up front to make awards distribution easier. Family members will be seated behind all the teams.
1:25 p.m. Reviewing Begins (cafeteria)
1:25 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Reviewing for ODD Teams
Even teams can look at other projects or visit the FLL and FRC teams
1:50 p.m. - 2:10 p.m. Reviewing for EVEN Teams
Odd teams can look at other projects or visit the FLL and FRC teams
2:15 p.m. Science Show (auditorium) This year we will welcome the Bubble Guy!
3:15 p.m. Closing Ceremony (auditorium)
At the conclusion (about 4:00 p.m.), at least one coach per team will please return to the cafeteria to check on the break down of their team's project and return of their reusable materials. You can keep the display boards and any papers. Everyone else should please go home from the auditorium (and not return to the cafeteria). I am hoping the Key Club students will be there breaking down the models and packing it all up to go back in storage.
A parent or guardian must stay for the event or coordinate with their coaches so we have enough adults to help supervise the students. The whole family of each participant is welcome to attend the entire event.
