FIRST LEGO League Discover
There is a program for grades K-1, FIRST LEGO League Discover, that FIRST launched for the 2020 season and beyond. At this time, Glastonbury Public Schools is not offering the K-1 program. The K-1 Discover program is designed to take place in an academic classroom, led by teachers. The woman in this video does a great job explaining the program if you'd like to learn more: https://youtu.be/08VPy-OV3lM
The video demonstrates why it is classroom-based, not team-based.

Response email to those asking if their children younger than grade 2 can register through GPS for FLL Explore:
Unfortunately, the only students eligible to register through GPS for FLL Explore are in grades 2-4. If you want to include first graders, you would have to form a team on your own instead of registering for the program offered through Glastonbury Public Schools. This is what I did for my son before I created the Explore program for the town. What you do is create an account on firstinspires.org. You will have to pool money from the parents to pay to register the team and purchase the inspire set. You can use your own LEGO pieces for the rest of the model, but you will also need to purchase a LEGO Education SPIKE Essential Set (unless you already own a LEGO WeDo 2.0). Those are available on LEGO Education: https://education.lego.com/en-us/products/lego-education-spike-essential-set/45345#spike™-essential Kind regards, Wendy |
