Adult mentors needed!1. Robot Programming
The team needs programming mentors that can teach the students Java and help them create Java software needed to control the robot and its various subsystems. The team also would like to use cameras to identify vision targets and adjust drive trajectories. 2. Electronics Mentors are needed to supervise the students designing and creating the control board for the robot. The students need to make the board for the competition robot and their practice bots. They wire all the batteries, motors, motor controllers, etc. The electronics team is also responsible for the pneumatic boards. 3. Build Mechanically experienced people that know how to use tools are needed to help students design and build the robot. Based on the challenge created by FIRST, the students need to create prototypes and present them to the team. Each year the team must factor in challenging time constraints. 4. CAD Mentors familiar with SOLIDWORKS CAD 3D design can help the students prototype the robot and catch any problems that might arise during the build season. This group of students also prints templates for the physical construction of mechanisms to be integrated in the final robot. 5. Marketing The team needs a current business plan, T-shirts, pit design, and help writing up award applications. Adult support is needed to help the kids raise money (approx $20K annually) for robot parts, competition fees, travel expenses and more. Grant writers are also needed. |
